Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio is an American actor. Maggie Grace is most well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills and Kim Mills on ABC's Lost television series. She was born in Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of school after her parents divorced to go in Los Angeles to live with her mother. She was struggling to get by and was offered her first role in acting in Rachel's Room's main character. In 2002 she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murder victim Martha Moxley. In 2004 Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost on which she acted as a principal actor for the first two seasons winning an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. The show ended in 2005 and Grace wanted to appear on film more frequently, having played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She starred as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken in 2008) in Suburban Girl as well as the Jane Austen Book Club. The actress reprised her character for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a contemporary adaptation to the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to her role as Shannon in Lost and the final episode. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth episode of Californication. The actress plays Faith a groupie and an muse for the stars that catches the interest of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. She is part of Gyllenhaal's family and is the elder cousin of Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was a teenager her career began in small roles for her father. She was also in Donnie Darko with her sister. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated for an Golden Globe Award in both the romantic comedy Sherrybaby (2005) and in the love story Secretary (2002). The two films received acclaim from critics. In the wake of several successful commercial films like World Trade Center in 2006 her fame grew when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). The film was nominated in the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her role in Crazy Heart, (2009). Apart from her character as a Secret Service agent, she was also seen in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). The most recent roles were her character as the primary protagonist in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal started her career as a screenwriter and director in 2021. she directed and wrote the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter. The film received the award for Best Screenplay in The Venice International Film Festival, and was later nominated by The Academy Award. Academy Award.
