Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. As a young girl of just five when she left for Oxfordshire and attended her first Dragon School. Emma was just six when she decided she wanted to be an actor. She was trained for many years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford in which she learned acting and singing. At the age of 10, she had performed and taken as the main character in several Stagecoach productions and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone is the film from 2001 version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was found by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that, after auditioning for eight times they as well as Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's debut on the big screen took place in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. It was the year's top earning film, smashing records during the opening day and first weekend. Critics were impressed with the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's acting "amazing". Emma's performance was recognized and won five awards later for the film.
